"Solaris.2" is a new version of the ballet performance "Solaris", created by the MAD creative association of Yury Smekalov and the Theater on Sadovaya. At the initiative of the management of the Mariinsky Theater, the performance, now transferred to the Vladikavkaz stage, has become an important technological and creative bridge between the Mariinsky Theater and its branch in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. The director-choreographer Yury Smekalov, the young artists of the ballet troupe and the entire team that created the performance managed to transfer the viewer to the unknown and mysterious planet Solaris, to fly through myriads of stars in search of the eternal beginning. Continuing his reflections on the higher mind and the primordial matter, in "Solaris.2" the choreographer found a connection between the famous science fiction novel by Stanislav Lem "Solaris" and the Ossetian Nart epic, emphasizing a number of its symbols.
"There are not many modern ballet performances in Vladikavkaz. And I wanted to make some interesting presentation specifically for the Vladikavkaz audience. After listening to the tales of the Nart heroes and heroes, I saw a strong connection between the performance and the Nart epic. Nart is light, fire. There is a hearth chain, a Nart apple tree... I had an idea to "screw" this theme into my performance. In principle, this is the same performance, but with an emphasis on those things that I discovered for myself for the first time... All the artists are bright, interesting, creative, very different. And what I like is that they are absolutely individual, and each one feels the main trigger points that are set for them in their own way," noted Yury Smekalov.
